Autobiography

My name is Maria Fernanda Ayon, and I am from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I am 16 years old, and attend to the 11th grade of the American School of Tegucigalpa. I am currently working on achieving my IB Diploma, for this reason I am taking the IB Psychology standard level. I have been in this school since the Nursery and finishing next year. I am a sport lover, starting with volleyball and soccer, which I play on my school teams. I also love dogs; I have two Chihuahuas at home. Pizza was my favorite food as a kid, and continues on being the best food ever. I love traveling. Spain is an amazing country, as and my own Honduras is. Beaches are the best, specially when I go with all my friends to party.

Martin Seligman Quotes

Success requires persistence, the ability to not give up in the face of failure. I believe that optimistic explanatory style is
the
key to persistence.
~Martin Seligman quotes from Learned Optimism

I believe that traditional wisdom is incomplete. A composer can have all the talent of Mozart and a passionate desire to succeed, but if he believes he cannot compose music, he will come to nothing. He will not try hard enough. He will give up too soon when the elusive right melody takes too long to materialize.

Learned Helplessness in Horseback Riding

It takes a lot to train a horse in order for a person to have the lead of it, but once it is done, the horse is completaly domesticated. For this, learned helplessness comes in hand.
In order for a horse to be on your complete command, you have to train it. The poor horse lives a life, since it is small, of whipping, specific excersising and a special diet. All this factors affect the horse's outcome as a domestic horse. The horse, after having this harsh and limited life since it is born, never experiences being free and whot life is as a normal horse. Instead, it is forced to have a closed life. This haw the horse will be complete helpless and eventually will only do what he knows it is ok to do, which is follow his leader's instructions.
This is an example of learned helplessness, and as it is done with horses, it is done with dogs, dolphins monkeys, birds, and any animal that can be domesticated.
